About me

As a teenager I wanted to be a midwife and was fascinated by pregnancy and birth. I was so excited to have two baby cousins to nurture and this cemented my desire to have a career in this field.

With a slight side step and change of plan I went to Norland and trained as a nanny. During my training I was very lucky to do a placement at Queen Charlotte’s for six weeks. I saw births including vaginal, assisted and caesareans and loved every minute of my time there.

My plan was to nanny for a few years and then train as a midwife. So, when I started my second nanny job with one small baby I thought I would stay a couple of years and move onto something different.

An incredible twenty two years passed with that same family, the one small baby had become three boys and the youngest was off to University. They are fabulous men now and we see each other regularly. Another nanny family followed, combined with a continuing part time Teaching Assistant role but eventually in 2017, I decided to move out of London and back to Buckinghamshire where I grew up.

I was introduced to a Doula and thought this would be something I wanted to learn more about. So, I went on an Introductory Day with Doula UK and then on the Doula Preparation course with the fantastic team at Nurturing Birth. I loved every minute and came away from that with a huge sense of excitement as my Doula journey had begun.  I've done various workshops to increase my experience and knowledge, recently  'Supporting Every Birth' which focuses on babyloss and how to help families.

Working with families in a variety of settings over many years has been such a privilege and will help me support and nurture new families in my role as a Doula.

When I'm not working I love to be in my garden,  growing vegetables. Or in my kitchen cooking them!
